Baruno

Tucked away on the lively George Street in the heart of Edinburgh, Baruno is not just a restaurant-it’s where nightlife, comfort food, and creative cocktails blend into one irresistible experience. Whether you're flying solo, catching up with friends, or soaking in the live music vibes, Baruno has a way of making you feel like you’ve just stumbled onto a local secret.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere pulls you in with a moody yet energetic ambiance. The venue hums with excitement-there’s live music, there are sports on screen, and the clink of glasses mixes with bursts of laughter from every corner. And if you manage to grab a spot outdoors, the street-facing seating is ideal for people-watching and enjoying Edinburgh's charm with a chilled drink in hand.

Now, let’s talk food. Baruno’s menu is what you’d expect from a place that doesn’t try too hard to impress-but still totally does. It's familiar, crowd-pleasing, and packed with flavour. Think juicy burgers stacked just right, golden zucchini fries, and crowd favourites like garlic bread that’s crisp on the edges and buttery at the center. Craving something shareable? The nachos with cheese don’t hold back on toppings, while the chicken wings strike a nice balance between spicy and crispy. Veggie lovers won’t feel left out either-items like hummus plates and churros for dessert round off a menu that’s diverse but approachable.

When it comes to drinks, this is where Baruno truly flexes its creativity. The cocktail list reads like a bucket list of bold, fruity, and cheeky concoctions. Sip on a Picante Pizza-inspired Margarita or chill with a Blue Lagoon if you’re after something eye-catching. There’s the Oaxaca Old Fashioned for those who prefer deep, smoky notes, and the Espresso Martini is a go-to pick-me-up if you’re kicking off a late night. They also cater to non-drinkers in style-the Chasing Unicorns Alcohol Free mocktail and nostalgic Vimto Slushie are fun, flavourful, and totally inclusive.

Baruno is also one of those rare spots that doesn’t just serve drinks-they celebrate them. With a great beer selection, a serious wine list, and plenty of spirits, it's ideal for happy hour or spontaneous post-work meetups. They’ve even got free water refills, so you can keep going without breaking stride. The staff know their stuff and aren’t shy about recommending the best pairings depending on your mood-or your meal.

What makes this place even more unique is the entertainment factor. On select nights, live performances turn dinner into a show, and dancing is absolutely on the table. There’s no delivery or takeaway here, and honestly, that’s the point. Baruno is made for being there, soaking in the vibe, the sound, and the energy.

As for accessibility, it’s worth noting that while there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet, the entrance and seating areas may not be ideal for everyone. So it’s best to check ahead if you have specific needs. Still, for those who can comfortably get in, Baruno delivers on atmosphere and experience.

For anyone navigating the food and drink scene in Edinburgh, Baruno sits comfortably in that sweet spot between laid-back and lively, indulgent and inventive. Whether you're craving a proper burger, sipping through bold cocktails, or just after a good tune and great company, this George Street gem knows how to set the tone.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Baruno with my family on Wednesday, November 6th, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish! Despite it being a quiet evening, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and their attentive service truly enhanced our visit. Now, let's talk about the food! The quality was absolutely top-notch, with every dish bursting with flavor. We were all impressed by the creativity and freshness of the ingredients, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the exceptional dining experience we received. It’s a rarity to find such great value without compromising on quality! To top it all off, Baruno was playing the best music, which created a lively and enjoyable ambiance. I even caught my mum and son dancing along to a few songs, which added an extra layer of joy to our evening. It’s not every day that a restaurant can bring a family together like that! Overall, I can’t recommend Baruno enough. We left feeling satisfied and happy, and I can’t wait to visit again soon. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience with delicious food, great drinks, and a welcoming vibe, Baruno is the place to be!

We were wandering around and came upon Baruno by chance. We had a 3 “small plates” and a some cocktails. All delivered by amazing and friendly staff. The owner was great and it was lovely to hear about the bar / restaurant from him. The music was at an enjoyable level for us. It was a great atmosphere. One brilliant part was the ladies toilets, beautifully planned. The whole place just had a great vibe about it. It we lived in Edinburgh would definitely go again and again. Loved it!!!
